Settling Into Ship Life on MSC World America

Incase you have missed it, here’s my post on Day 1: MSC World America Embarkation Yay or Nay?

Ok. We are finally exhaling… it usually takes me a couple of days to actually settle into a new location.

And… today in a nutshell was basically ocean views + desserts 🌊🍦🤷🏻‍♀️

Day 2 is when you start to understand how the ship flows. We explored most of the ship today, but of course, breakfast. There are 2 locations for breakfast (that we were aware of). The Buffet (Deck 18 and Deck 19) and also the restaurant on Deck 6 called Hexagon where you are seated and you are served.

MSC World America is massive. Like… “how is this even floating” massive. The MSC World America can accommodate up to 6,762 passengers at max capacity and requires a crew of 2,138 to operate, bringing the total number of people on board to nearly 8,900!

Which Cabin We Stayed in

I chose deck 9, midship cabin #9178 because of any potential motion or sea sickness. This is a standard balcony cabin. Plenty of storage. Would I bring soap, shampoo and conditioner? Yes. While they do offer, I personally like to bring my own. Our room steward was also great at providing necessities at our request.

Deck 6: The World Galleria

Located on Deck 6, the The World Galleria on the MSC World America spans 3 decks, and is a vibrant indoor social and entertainment hub of the ship. It features many duty-free shops specialty restaurants and lounges under a dynamic LED canopy ceiling that displays digital art and changing visuals throughout the day. We were even invited to a speakeasy bar, a secret hidden invite only bar located within the ship that only maxes out a 100 guests per night. More on that later!

Deck 8: The World Promenade

Located the back of the ship on deck 8, it’s outdoor with open-air views and an ocean backdrop. Here you have the Coffee Emporium (where I got my daily vanilla lattes). If you have a drink package, you can grab stuff here! There’s specialty coffees and pastries. There’s also Sweet Temptations and All Sports Bar (not included in meal or drink plan and costs extra). You will also find 2 panoramic lifts that brings you all the way up to deck 19. And of course the famous shark slide.

Deck 18, 19: Buffet, Aqua Deck, Activities

This is where the pool energy starts to build early in the day from 7 am. You have the Zen Pool (adults only), the Buffet, then all ages outdoor pool (where all the parties area at, and the solarium (with another pool). There are also a few bars and pizza stops. Be careful about towel hogging the chairs (nobody likes this), because a crew member (actually an officer) will come by and snap pics of your stuff to time stamp. If you are not in your chairs in 30 min, your items might not be there when you return!

Deck 19, has all the fun activities, a few hot tubs, sportsplex, small kids splash zone, basketball court, bumper cars, ropes course (free), cliff hanger ($10USD) (yes, you can swing your way out into the water) which is enough to keep you occupied for a long time.

Lunch was at the buffet on Deck 18 Il Mercato and and Deck 19 La Brasserie. Here you will find different types of dishes, from artisan pizza, to freshly carved meats, international hot entrees, fresh salads, and a dessert corner.

Final Thoughts on Day 2

You’re no longer figuring things out but really enjoying yourself and getting into the rhythm!

Coming Up Next is Day 3: where things take another turn, because this is usually when you hit your first port and for us, it was Peurto Plata, Dominican Republic. Which means early mornings, excursions, and a completely different kind of adventure.
