MSC Day 6: Another Sea Day

Good morning from somewhere in the middle of the ocean, because that is where we are on Day 6 of our MSC World America cruise.

This is my third time sailing with MSC Cruises (2x on the World America) and and my umpteenth sea day, which means my friends and I have officially mastered the art of doing absolutely nothing with total confidence. We booked three balcony rooms in a row for this trip, so between the 8 of us we have basically colonized one hallway, and today felt like the perfect time to sit down and give you the full rundown of this ship. Consider this your one stop guide to the MSC World America, because by Day 6 you have tried enough of it to actually have opinions.

Day 6: MSC World America
At Sea VLOG

Breakfast on the MSC World America

Most mornings we roll out of bed and head straight to the buffet, or you can do breakfast in the main dining rooms, Hexagon, Bubbles, and Esagono (Deck 6), or La Foglia (Deck 5), or Les Dunes (Aurea). If in the main dining rooms, be prepared to get to know other guests as the tables are situation about a credit card width apart! (Not good for introverted people 🙋🏻‍♀️).

The buffets are located on Deck 18 (and 19 for overflow) and quite massive and honestly a little overwhelming the first time you walk in, with everything from eggs made to order to pastries to a whole section that feels suspiciously like a hotel breakfast in Rome. There are omelette stations, fresh fruit, cereal, smoked salmon, and enough bacon to make you question your cholesterol without actually caring.

Then… the Coffee Emporium

Speaking of coffee, my actual favourite discovery of this whole cruise has been the Coffee Emporium (see my video in this post) in the World Promenade.

It is basically a proper coffee house at sea, serving French, Italian, Turkish and Moroccan style coffee along with lattes, cold brew and, if you are feeling like Day 6 has earned it, espresso martinis. Most of the drinks here are included in the drink package.

A Day at Sea: Pool, Sun and Repeat

Sea days on the MSC World America follow a rhythm that is honestly kind of perfect. Wake up, eat, find a pool chair, swim, eat again, nap, repeat. There is no shame in it. Between the pools, the sun and the constant stream of entertainment happening around the ship, it is easy to fill an entire day without ever leaving the pool deck.

And there is always something going on nearby, whether it is a game, a dance class, a trivia session or live music drifting over from one of the bars. The ship keeps you busy without ever making you feel like you have to be busy.

Nighttime Entertainment: Shows, Lounges and the Promenade

Once dinner wraps up, the MSC World America turns into a completely different animal. The World Theatre puts on full scale theatrical productions most nights, and they are the kind of polished (but nowhere near Celebrity’s calibre). The Panorama Lounge, tucked all the way aft beyond the casino on Deck 7, runs its own rotating themed shows, mixing live music, dancing, magic shows and aerial performances into something that feels more like a night out than a cruise activity.

The World Promenade itself becomes its own kind of entertainment after dark. There is a light show that lights up the whole space, and you can grab popcorn while you watch, which somehow makes the whole thing feel like an outdoor movie night crossed with a street party. Honestly, some of our best memories from this cruise have happened just wandering the Promenade after dinner with no plan at all.
